Fiat unveiles new special edition ‘Collezione’ 500 in London

Fiat has unveiled the new special edition ‘Collezione’ 500 in London to mark 10 years of special 500 city car models.

Trendy Covent Garden played host on the second stop of its European city tour, which started in Milan.

London sells more 500’s than any other city in the world outside of Italy, so it was fitting that London should be the second venue after Milan. After the London showcase the ‘new edition’ Fiat 500 tour will visit Berlin and Paris before finishing in Madrid.

The Collezione marks 10 years of special edition Fiat 500’s and it is also the 30th special edition 500 produced so far. The Collezione follows special edition partnerships with brands, such as fashion designers Gucci, yacht manufacturer Riva and Ferrari – for the fiery Abarth special editions.

Last year marked 60 years since the original Fiat 500 first went on sale in and although a new 500 went on sale in 2007, it wasn’t until the following year that special editions began to be launched. Since 2007, over two million Fiat 500’s have been sold and the 500 now accounts for over half of all Fiat sales.

The chic and fashion-conscious 500 is still as popular as ever and the first quarter of this year has been the Italian manufacturers best ever start to a year, selling 60,000 Fiat 500s worldwide. Having failed to be in the UK’s top ten best selling cars in 2017, the Fiat 500 might just be confident of making the top ten this year.

The Collezione will be available as both a hatchback and a convertible and Fiat have announced that the price for the new special edition will start from £13,875.

Highlights include chrome-plated front accents on the bumper, bonnet and wing mirrors, which pay homage to the original, as well as well as chrome-plated Collezione branding. There are five colour options available, including optional cool paint liveries and two-tone options and exclusive 16-inch wheels come as standard.

The interior boasts a seven-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity as an option, two-tone seats, a funky-coloured dashboard and special Fiat 500 floor mats. Although we are sure they won’t be as special as ours.

Arnaud Leclerc, managing director of Fiat UK, said: “London has embraced the Fiat 500 like no other city outside of Italy.

“The Fiat 500 is not just a passing trend, it’s a car that does, and has proven, to adapt to suit the times.”
